Feast of Ascension – Bishop’s Message

by | May 18, 2023

Dear brothers and sisters,

Today we gather to celebrate the Feast of the Ascension, a time when Jesus ascended into heaven to be seated at the right hand of the Father. This moment marked the end of Jesus’ earthly ministry and the beginning of a new era for us as followers of Christ. We are now called to continue his mission of love, compassion, and justice in the world.

As we reflect on the meaning of the Ascension, we are reminded of the importance of our role as disciples of Christ. We are called to be ambassadors of his love and to work towards a world that is more just and equitable for all people. In our modern times, this mission takes on new meaning and new urgency.

We live in a world that is marked by deep divisions, hatred, and violence. We see the effects of systemic racism, poverty, and inequality all around us. As followers of Christ, we cannot remain silent in the face of these injustices. We must stand up and speak out, working tirelessly to create a society that is rooted in love and justice.

We are also called to be peacemakers in a world that is marked by conflict and war. We must work to build bridges of understanding and reconciliation, recognizing the dignity and worth of every human being. We must reject the culture of violence that pervades our world, and work towards a culture of peace and nonviolence.

As we celebrate the Feast of the Ascension, let us renew our commitment to the mission of Christ in our world. Let us draw strength and inspiration from his example of love, compassion, and service. And let us work towards a world that reflects these values, a world that is more just, more peaceful, and more loving for all people.

May God bless you all, and may we all continue to be faithful disciples of Christ in our world today. Amen.
